It was announced today (Dec 5th 2011) that Nasa's planet hunting spacecraft Kepler has discovered a planet 600 lightyears from us that could contain life. The planet called Kepler-22b (catchy name eh?) has an atmosphere very similar to Earth because this planet orbits around a sun like star. Though 2 times bigger than earth scientists guess that if the greenhouse effect there is the same as it is here the average temperature should probably be a nice 72 degrees.
I for one am stoked anytime NASA makes a discovery like this, that means we are one step closer to exploring strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilization, to bodly go where no man has gone before! BEAM ME UP CAPTAIN I"M READY TO GO!
